Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2016 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, LA for Jacques Blanchard, 86. Mr. Blanchard, a native and long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Richard, died Thursday evening, October 27 at his residence. Father Austin Leger will conduct the services with interment following in the St. Edward Cemetery adjacent to the church. Survivors include his wife, Evangeline Guidry Blanchard of Richard; his sons, Richard Blanchard and wife Bernadine of Church Point, Ronald Blanchard and wife Paula, Kenneth Blanchard and wife Brenda and Peter Blanchard and wife Jann-all of Richard and Glenn Blanchard and wife Faye of Eunice, LA; his daughters, Betty Gaspard and Jeanel Blanchard of Richard and Agnes Richard and husband Gregory of Church Point; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valmont Blanchard, Jr. and Agnes Fontenot Blanchard; two grandsons, Ronald "Buck" Blanchard, Jr. and Jason Schexneider; a brother, Wesley Blanchard; a sister, Rose Johnson and a son-in-law, Wilbur Gaspard. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 30 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:30 P.M. Sunday by Father Leger. Pallbearers will be Kenneth, Glenn, Wesley, David and Adam Blanchard and Robbie Schexneider.
