Church Point, LA     Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, October 17, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Jacqueline C. Matte, 64, the former Jacqueline Carrier. Mrs. Matte, a long-time resident of Church Point, died Friday evening, October 14 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. Deblanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include her husband, Paul Larry Matte of Church Point; a son, Anthony Matte and wife Elizabeth of Church Point; her daughters, Jennifer Taylor and husband Brian of San Antonio, TX and Tina Duplechin and husband Jody of Church Point; a brother, J.C. Carriere and wife Phyllis of Church Point; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; her sisters, Ethel Faul and husband Bert, Mary Ann Sattler and Lessie Bertrand and husband Pervis-all of Church Point and Janelle Dies and husband Harold and Madeline Marcantel and husband Gary-all of Eunice, LA and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Carrier of Church Point. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Elridge and Lorena Richard Carriere; a brother, Joseph Bob Carriere; an infant sister, Bobby Ann Carriere and a half-sister, Bobbie Jean Carriere Bellard. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 16 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc. Mrs. Matte was a valued, beloved employee of Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point for some twenty-three years, working her way from CNA to LPN.
