Obituary

Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for J. Calbert Latiolais, 80. Mr. Latiolais, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 3 on a fishing trip at Chicot Lake in rural Evangeline Parish, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Church Point.

Survivors include his wife, Bertrella Jagneaux Latiolais of Church Point; two sons, Kent Latiolais and wife Kalley of Church Point and Raphael Latiolais of New York, N.Y.; a daughter, Catherine Latiolais Olivier and husband Burt of Church Point; three brothers: Leo Latiolais, Jr. and J. Roy Latiolais-both of church Point and Hearthy Latiolais of Port Neches, Tex.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo, Sr. and Amy Jeanise Latiolais; two brothers, Aaron and Raphael Latiolais and a grandson, Phillip Latiolais.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 4 and continue from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Friday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday.

Mr. Latiolais was a prominent businessman and civic leader in Church Point. The owner of Latiolais Furniture for 31 years, he served on the City Council and was a board member of Progressive National Bank. He was enjoying retirement; doing what he loved, fishing and being with his grandchildren. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Latiolais will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony before the services.
