Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA for Irene Theresa Miller Doucet, 90, of Lawtell, who passed away at home February 11 surrounded by family and loved ones. Rev. Father Brian Harrington will be the celebrant of the Mass and interment will be in the cemetery adjacent to the church. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, February 14 and continue from 8:00 AM Tuesday until services. A rosary will be recited by Deacon David Menard at 7:00 PM Monday.
Irene was born on February 15, 1931 to John Miller, Jr. and Ella Marie Savoy Miller in Bristol, LA. Irene met the love of her life, Raymond, and they wed on November 30, 1946, going on to have six children: Hilton Joseph Doucet, Mary Ann Doucet Pitre Carvell, Jenny L (Stanford) Doucet-Cronin, Theresa Doucet Bergeron Seabrook, Carolyn Marie Doucet Deprimo, and Susan Doucet Rodkey. After retiring, Irene and Raymond spent their time fishing, shrimping, traveling, gambling, visiting their children and having many great family Sunday dinners. Irene was predeceased by her parents, John Miller, Jr. and Ella Marie Savoy Miller; her husband, Raymond Joseph Doucet; her brothers: Jimmy Miller, Joseph Miller, Horace Miller, Lloyd Miller, George Miller, Roosevelt Miller and Francis Miller; a sister, Anna Jane Miller Fontenot; two daughters, Theresa Doucet Bergeron Seabrook and Mary Ann Doucet Pitre Carvell and a grandson, Elie Joseph Doucet. She is survived by a sister, Lee Anna Miller Fontenot Kidder; a son, Hilton Joseph Doucet; daughters, Jenny L. (Stanford) Doucet-Cronin, Carolyn Marie Doucet Deprimo and Susan Doucet Rodkey and 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren with whom Irene enjoyed spending time, playing games and spoiling them. Many thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for the service and care they provided, especially nurse Kristina, who was always a text message or phone call away and Assistants Viv and Carol; along with caregivers, Addie, Sheila, Layla, Angel, and Camelia. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
