Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Mrs. Huey "Nell" Olivier, 71, the former Nelwin Marie Bergeron. Mrs. Olivier, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 10:50 P.M. Friday, October 18 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Huey "Sunny" Olivier of Church Point; her son, Darby Michael Olivier and wife Nellie and daughter, Rochelle Marie Olivier of Church Point; two sisters, Roberta Thibodeaux of Church Point and Nadine Thibodeaux and husband Jay of Iowa, La.; eight grandchildren: Simone B. Daigle and husband Cullen, Allison Benoit and fiance James Meche, Jr., Jordan Benoit, Colby Leger and Tiffany Olivier, Alona Olivier, Tricia Olivier and Tara Olivier-all of Church Point-and six great-grandchildren: Madisyn, Cole and Leigha Daigle; Hayden Meche, Raegan Elkins and Ana' Leah Rose Olivier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse "Bea" and Ester Leger Bergeron and two sons, Dirk Anthony and Lawrence Randall Olivier.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Monday, October 21 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Mrs. "Nell" and her husband Huey established "Sunny's" in 1972, a family restaurant specializing in fried chicken. Co-managing it for 28 years, they made it a popular eating and meeting place for Church Point and the surrounding area.
