Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Lawtell, La for James Houston Richard who died at 1:16 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Opelousas General Hospital. He was a native of Lawtell, La. Father Dan Picard and Father Mike Champagne will conduct the services with entombment following in the St. Bridget mausoleum in Lawtell, La.

Survivors include three sons, Neil Richard and wife Tamie, Robby James Richard and Mark Richard and wife Alyce, all of Lawtell, La; one daughter, Connie Thibodeaux and husband Glenn of Lawtell, La; four brothers, Burlin Richard of Greenwell Springs, Delton Richard of Baton Rouge, Darryl Richard of Denham Springs, Albert Richard of Baton Rouge. Two sisters, Eva Mae Richard of Lafayette and Lima Fontenot of Ville Platte; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was a life-long carpenter and built numerous fine homes as the owner of Houston Richard Builders Inc. until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Richard was an organ donor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Marie Comeaux Richard and his parents Evence and Rena Miller Richard.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 until 10:00 p.m. and continue from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday, March 14, 2008. A recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. by Father Dan Picard.
