Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at St John Catholic Church; Lewisburg, La. for Horace Tweedel, 87, who died at 5:50 P.M. Saturday, December 15 at his residence in Lewisburg where he had been a life-long resident. Father Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the St. John Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons: Carol Tweedel and wife Elaine and John Belvon Tweedel- all of Lewisburg, La. and Keith Tweedel and wife Juanita of Lafayette, La.; four daughters: Connie T. Manuel and husband David of Sunset,La., Debbie T. Thibodeaux of Berea, Ky.; Charlene T. Guidry and husband Keith and Vanessa T. Chambers and husband Johnny- all of Houston, Tx.; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: James Tweedel and wife Louise of Stuart, Okla. and John Berchman Tweedel and wife Linda of Crowley, La. and three sisters: Alma T. Bourgeois and husband Warren of Church Point, La.; Ethel Tweedel of Lewisburg, La. and Rena T. Gutierrez and husband Louis of Lake Wales, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ivy Daigle Tweedel; a sister, Mary T. Brown and two brothers: Russell and Joseph Steven Tweedel.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17 and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday at 7:00 P.M.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war, Mr. Tweedel was a carpenter and building contractor for more than 50 years. He was a long-time Usher at St. John Church. A "Number 1 Dad" to his children, he will truly be missed by his extended family and friends.
