Church Point, LA:         A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for John Herman Venable, 81. Mr. Venable, born in Church Point and a resident of Lafayette Parish, passed away Friday evening, March 25 at his residence. Deacon Kenneth David, his cousin, will conduct the celebration service and disposition will be determined by family.

He is survived by his first wife, Leona Sue Leger of Lafayette, LA; two daughters, Annie Venable of Scott, LA and Becky Guidry and husband Lonnie of Lafayette; his brothers, Sidney Venable and wife Marion of Church Point, LA and Bernard Venable and wife Nellie of Lafayette; a sister-in law, Anna Venable of Duson, LA; six grandchildren: Valerie Palombo, Scotty Venable, Amber Bonnette, Jacob Guidry, Trevor Alleman and Thomas Watkins; six great-grandchildren and his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Non" Venable and Eleanor "Nonnie" Thibodeaux Venable; his wife, Sherry Dupre; a son, Thomas Herman Venable and a brother, Leroy Venable.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 10:00 AM Sunday until the time of services. A devoted family man who loved his profession, Mr. Venable had been in insurance and real estate since 1962. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he will be honored with a Flag Presentation and Honors at the time of services.
