Church Point, LA:     A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mr. Herbert Joseph Thibodeaux, 77, who passed away at 3:30 AM Sunday, August 15 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA. Rev. Brian Harrington, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass.

Herbert, a long-time resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Pierre Thibodeaux and the former Elvina Carriere. He and his wife Janell were foster parents over a period of 35 years. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he loved fishing, spending time with his grandkids and reminiscing about working in the oyster beds back in the day in Venice, LA.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janell M. Thibodeaux of Lafayette; his six daughters: Pamela Wimberly and husband Guy of Lafayette, Elizabeth Thibodeaux of Broussard, LA, Allyson Thibodeaux of Lafayette, Ella Thibodeaux and husband Michael of Church Point, Dianne Green and husband William of Sunset, LA and Sarah Dimonde and husband Miles of Carencro, LA; sixteen grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two sisters, Albercy Henry and husband Kenneth of Church Point and Bonita Brown and husband Curt of Lawtell, LA; three brothers, Calvin Thibodeaux and wife Judy of Church Point, J.Y. Thibodeaux and wife Peggy of Church Point and Shelton Thibodeaux of Mermentau, LA; one sister-in-law, Sandra Thibodeaux of Church Point and many foster sons, foster daughters and foster grandchildren that he became part of their lives over a thirty-five year period. He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson, Axel Richard; a brother, Russell Thibodeaux and three nephews, Kendall, Hunter and Daniel Thibodeaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Saturday, August 21 from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 12:00 PM on Saturday. The Pallbearer will be Matthew Wimberly.
