Church Point, LA   Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Hazel T. Lyons, 88, the former Hazel Marie Thibodeaux. Mrs. Lyons, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Friday afternoon, April 28 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church in Church Point. Survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Gary and husband Dallas Gary, Jr. of Youngsville, LA and Jessica Henry and husband Billy of Church Point; seven grandchildren: Douglas and Denise Lyons, Cody Henry and wife Nikki, Trae Henry and wife Lacey, Trent Henry, Seth Henry and wife Hannah and Zack Henry and eleven great-grandchildren: Emma, Tucker, Payton, Layton, Kaylee and Kipton Henry and Amelia, Lucas, Logan, Matthew and Liam Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Lyons; her parents, Joseph and Elise Venable Thibodeaux; a son, Roger Lyons and a granddaughter, Melissa Lyons. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M until 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 30 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc. A hard-working woman who was loved by her family, Mrs. Lyons worked alongside her husband in operating a dairy farm and driving a school bus for the Acadia Parish School System.
