Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Havard J. Thibodeaux, 92. Mr. Thibodeaux, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Tuesday afternoon, August 2 at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Leota Matte Thibodeaux of Church Point; three sons, Robert "Bobby" Thibodeaux and wife Vicki of Abbeville, LA, Glen Thibodeaux and wife Keena of Church Point and Jeff Thibodeaux and wife Karen of Branch, LA; three daughters, JoAnn Credeur and husband Rodney of Church Point, Bonnie Bergeron and husband Dale of Opelousas, LA and Sandy Bellard and husband Pat of Church Point; two brothers, Ferdinand Thibodeaux and wife Ruby and Kenneth Thibodeaux and wife Norma-all of Church Point; a sister, Jean Janise and husband Larry of Sunset, LA; a sister-in-law, Cheryl "Toogie" Thibodeaux of Branch; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignace and Beulah Beaugh Thibodeaux; an infant brother, Joseph Thibodeaux; two infant sisters, Joyce and Juanita Thibodeaux; a brother, Gale Thibodeaux; two sisters, Shirley Jackson and Verdie "Tooty Thibodeaux and a son-in-law, Gilford Doucet.
Mr. Thibodeaux was an employee and Assistant Superintendent of Canal Refining for some forty years. A U.S Army Air Corps veteran of the WWII Era and a member of American Legion Post 225, he will be honored with a Flag Presentation at the time of services.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3 and continue from 8:00 AM Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday by seminarian Dexter Thibodeaux.
