Obituary

Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, La. for Harry Junius "Ju-June" Verdin, 71. Mr. Verdin, a native 0f Dulac, La. and currently a resident of Church Point, died at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3 at his daughter's residence in rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point. Father Stephen Ugwu will conduct the services with interment following in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro, La.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Verdin and companion "Desi" of Church Point and Rodney Parfait and wife Meagan of Houma, La.; two daughters, Veronica Stanford and husband Stuart of Church Point and Rhonda Daigle of Houma, La.; two brothers, James Verdin and wife Clara of Houma, La and Jessie Verdin of Church Point; three sisters: Mary Johnson of Sunset, La., Ethel Verdin of Port Arthur, Tex. and Ann Lyons and husband Ronald of Church Point; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sadie (Fitch) Verdin; five brothers: Paul Henry Verdin, Joseph Verdin, John Ivy Verdin, Jerry Jim Verdin and Harry Verdin; a grandson, Jiles Higginbotham and a great-granddaughter, Nyjah Elizabeth Enos.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 6 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Verdin operated his own commercial fishing vessel out of Dulac for a number of years.
