Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Gladys C. Sonnier, 83, the former Gladys Marie Cormier. Mrs. Sonnier, a native of Cankton, La. and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 9:19 A.M. Monday, September 19, 2011at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Sonnier and wife Sarah and Glenn Sonnier and wife Maria-all of Church Point; a daughter, Jo Ann Burleigh and husband Ronald of Sunset, La.; a brother, Elton "Bee" Cormier and wife Drussella of Church Point; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Sonnier.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 20 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday by Deacon Jim Cormier.

Mrs. Sonnier was a member of the American Legion Post 225 Auxiliary for a number of years.
