Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 10, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Gladys Cecilia Henry, 85. Ms. Henry, a native and long-time resident of Church Point and currently a resident of Maison de Lafayette, died Thursday morning, August 6 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, La. Father Mark Melancon will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church.
Survivors include five nieces: Jenny Domingue of Lafayette, Karen Levy and husband Mark of Baton Rouge, La., Denise Caldwell and husband Brent of Albany, La., Lynn Patin and husband Keith of Scott, La. and Joan DeJean and husband Bobby of Prairieville, La.; a nephew, Ronnie Doucet and wife Ginger of Lafayette and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy and Emily LeJeune Henry and two sisters, Lena Doucet and Ola Mae Cormier.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 9 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Sunday by Father Melancon and the local council of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Pallbearers will be Ben Domingue, Matt and Damian Doucet, Kyle Patin, Sam Levy, Brannon Byrd and Tyler Caldwell. Readers will be Karen Levy and Norma Johnson and gift bearers will be Kelsey Patin and Luke Domingue.
A valued employee of long standing at Horecky Motors in Church Point, Ms. Henry was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and volunteered at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Rectory as a "money-counter" for many years. The family wishes to thank her caretakers at Maison de Lafayette for their services. Ms. Henry always thought of them as her friends and "second family".
