Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 25, 2010 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Genevieve "GG" Sonnier, 79, the former Genevieve Doucet. Mrs. Sonnier, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 5:50 P.M. Wednesday, June 23 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center; Lafayette, La. Father Randy Moreau will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Church Point.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Sonnier and wife Deborah of Rayne, La. and Jerry Sonnier of Church Point; three daughters: Irene Doucet and husband Wayne of Branch, La., Karen Comeaux and fiance Mike Hardy of Bellevue, La. and Geraldine Savoy and husband Warren of Houston, Tex.; two sisters, Jeanette Fuselier of Eunice, La. and Elaine Lejeune of Church Point; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Liness Sonnier.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until10:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 24 and continue from 6:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday by Father Moreau.

Mrs. Sonnier was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 225 Auxiliary.
