Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point for Geneva H. Duplechain, 85, the former Geneva Handy. Mrs. Duplechain, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 9:10 A.M. Monday, October 8 at Acadia-St Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Father Francis Butler, SSJ, will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Survivors include a son, John Adrian Duplechain of Church Point and two sisters, Mabel Handy of Church Point and Elnora Holland of Bremerton, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Duplechain and her parents, Albert and Honore (Charlot) Handy.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held before services on Monday by Father Butler.
Mrs. Duplechain was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of The Knights of Peter Claver, St. Lucy Court 79 for fifty-five years and the Ladies Altar Rosary Society for many years, also. She will be honored with a "Ritual" by the Ladies Auxiliary at the time of services.
