Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 25, 2010 at St. Edward Catholic Church; Richard, La. For Mrs. Francis H. "Chon" (Verna) Benoit, 84, the former Verna Romain. Mrs. Benoit, a long-time resident of Richard, died at 2:15 A.M. Friday, October 22 at her residence there. Father Wayne Duet will conduct the services with interment following in the St. Edward Cemetery in Richard.

Survivors include her husband, Francis H. "Chon" Benoit of Richard; a son, Pat Benoit of Richard; four daughters: Clara Matte and husband Kenneth and Roxann Venable and husband David-all of Church Point; Henrietta Robin and husband James of Marrero, La. and Charlene Patin of Richard; a sister, Ethel LeJeune of Richard; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulix and Maria Blanchard Romain; a son-in-law, David Patin; her brothers, Clifton and Wilson Romain and a sister, Eula Guidry.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 24 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Deacon Bryne Winn.

Pallbearers will be Marc Robin, Jessie Matte, Brandon and Justin Patin, Ryan Venable and Taylor Comeaux.
