Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, LA for Francis H. "Chon" Benoit, 93. Mr. Benoit, a native and long-time resident of Richard, died Tuesday evening, March 12 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, LA. Father Wayne Duet will conduct the services with interment following in the St. Edward Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Survivors include a son, Pat Benoit of Richard; four daughters, Clara Matte and husband Kenneth of Church Point, LA, Roxann Venable and husband David of Church Point, Henrietta Robin and husband James of Gonzales, LA and Charlene Patin of Richard; a brother, Huey Jay Benoit of Ft. Worth, TX; a sister, Viola Miller of Church Point; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorestan and Ernestine Thibodeaux Benoit; his wife, Verna Romain Benoit and two brothers and a sister.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, March 15 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Friday by Deacon Bryne Winn. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Mr. Benoit was a janitor at the Richard School for many years. Truly loved and respected by his extended family and friends, he will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services.
