Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Ferdie Joseph Lyons, 88, who died at 9:45 A.M. Friday, October 10, 2008 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home, Church Point. He was a life-long resident of Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Survivors include his wife, Louisiana Higginbotham Lyons of Church Point; two sons: Marx Kenneth Lyons and wife Linda of Church Point and Dwaine Gerard Lyons and wife Janet of Little Rock, Ark.; four daughters: Norma Burleigh and husband Robert of Ragley, La., Eloise David and husband Pat of Rayne, La., Elaine Nations of Iowa, La. and Debra Mohajer and husband John of Houston, Tx.; two brothers: Gervais and Carol Lyons- both of Church Point; 32 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Lyons Wimberly; his parents, Clifford and Ella Jagneaux Lyons; four brothers and three sisters.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 12, 2008 and continue from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Monday.

A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
