Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Evie Harmon, 94, the former Evie Venable. Mrs. Harmon, a native of Cankton, LA and long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Church Point, died Tuesday morning, November 7 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Pere David Rozas will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the church. Survivors include her companion, Hilton Hollier of Lewisburg, LA; her stepdaughter, Mable Harmon Pantoliano of Orlando, FL; three sisters, Emma Venable Childers of Jasper, TX, her twin sister Elvie Venable Guilbeaux of Church Point and Saybel Venable Montet (also her Godchild) of Gretna, LA and these Godchildren: James "Jim" Patrick Venable of Lafayette, LA, David Estillette of Montz, LA and Mickey Fontenot of Alvin, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Louise Duplechain Venable; her husband, Walter Harmon; her son, Roy Charles Harmon; two brothers, Joseph Venable, Sr. and Duplex Venable; three sisters, Anna Mae Venable Fontenot, Sherry Venable Jones and Laura Venable Guidry and two stepsons, Walter Ray and Lester Ernest "Babbs" Harmon. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 8 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday by Deacon Byrne Winn. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N.
