Church Point, La. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Eugenie "Ole Mama" Daigle, 97, the former Eugenie Yvonne Guidry. Mrs. Daigle, born and reared in Church Point, passed away peacefully at 7:45 A.M. Tuesday, July 21 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home, Church Point. Father Gregory Chauvin will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Daigle and husband Moise of Church Point; three sons: Barry Daigle and wife Jenny and Kent Daigle and wife Jaynel-all of Winnie, Tex. and Rod Daigle and wife Sandy of Church Point; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren with three "on the way".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd J. Daigle; a baby daughter, Theresa Eleanor Alice Daigle; a grandson, Guy Christopher Daigle; her parents, Theodule and Lula Savoy Guidry; a sister, Lucille McBride and husband Joe and two brothers, Melvin Guidry and wife Lelia and Frank Guidry and wife Yvonne.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday by Deacon Jim Cormier.

During her long life in Church Point, Mrs. Eugenie was employed at Simon's Jewelry, at Fontenot and Guidry Department Store and her last place of employment was as receptionist at the late Dr. Ward Bellard's office. "Ole Mama's" family wishes to thank the staff and employees at the Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home, the staff and employees at the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital, Dr. Mike Williams and Guidry Funeral Home.
