Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Ethel Bergeron, 78, the former Laura Ethel Labbie. Mrs. Bergeron, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 3:06 P.M. Sunday, December 19 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include her husband, Alton Bergeron, Jr. of Church Point; a daughter, Brenda Pourciau and husband George, Jr. of Church Point; a sister, Eldine Semar of California; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nora (Richard) Labbe; a son, Wayne Bergeron; brothers: Leveroil "Brother" Labbe, Fr. Emery Labbe and Andrew Labbe, Linus Carrier, Vorice Carrier, Dave Labbie and Bob Labbie; sisters: Jo Self, Annie Harmon, Verna Huckaby, Mable Morris, Angeline Beaugh, Eloisa Smith, Lillian Landry and Dora Richard.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday, December 20 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday by Deacon Bryne Winn.
