Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Errol Vieanny Guilbeau, 69. Mr. Guilbeau, a native and long-time resident of Opelousas, La., died at 11:05 P.M. Wednesday, June 29 at River Oaks Retirement Home; Lafayette, La. Father Brad Guillory will conduct the services with interment following in the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery; Highway 182, Opelousas.
Survivors include a son and three daughters; two brothers, Ashton Guilbeaux and Hilton Guilbeaux of Opelousas; two sisters, Helen Gauthreaux of Opelousas and Gertrude Thibodeaux of Lewisburg, La. and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Saul and Therese (Miller) Guilbeau and three sisters, Eurella Arnaud, Ruby Carriere and Jeanette Bellard.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, June 1 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday by Deacon Bryne Winn.
An employee of Tar-Gil, Inc. for many years, music was Mr. Guilbeau's passion. Recognized in the field of Cajun Music as an accomplished guitar player, he played with Blackie Forrestier and the Cajun Aces for a number of years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
