Obituary

Erline fought the good fight of faith and she heard, "Well done, my good and faithful servant, says The LORD."
CHURCH POINT, LA Erline Lavergne Thibodeaux, 85, passed away at her home in Church Point on Saturday July 22, 2017 due to multiple myeloma cancer complications.
Erline was a faithful wife of 63-1/2 years to Deacon John B. Thibodeaux, deceased, and is survived by her children-Amenthye Gail "Mendi" Thibodeaux of Church Point; John "Johnny" Thibodeaux and wife JoAnne of Fresno, CA; Michael Thibodeaux and partner Debbie Banks of Washington, LA; Olan Thibodeaux and wife Patrice Melnick of Grand Coteau, LA; David Thibodeaux of Southgate, KY; Richard Thibodeaux and wife Lori of Fresno, CA; Albert Thibodeaux and wife Betty Jo of Conifer, CO; Martha Thibodeaux Carriere and partner John Miller of Church Point; Charles Thibodeaux and wife Josette of Suwanee, GA and Ted Thibodeaux of Lake Charles, LA.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren 4 step-great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Erline is survived by six siblings- Lorella Lavergne Sonnier of Church Point; Clara Lavergne Smith of Opelousas, LA; Gloria Lavergne Lalonde and husband Lester of Opelousas; Aby Lavergne of Lafayette, LA; Cecil Lavergne and wife Jerilyn of Sunset, LA and Germaine Lavergne Guidry and husband Jack of Sugarland, TX and a sister-in-law, Audrey LaPorte Lavergne of Port Barre, LA.
Erline was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon John B. Thibodeaux; a daughter, Laverne Thibodeaux-Briscoe and a son, Craig R. Thibodeaux of Church Point; a grandson, Andre Briscoe of Sulphur, LA; two granddaughters, April Joy Thibodeaux of Fresno, CA and Lindsey Erin Nichole Thibodeaux of Lake Charles; her parents, Theobert Lavergne, Sr. and Amynthe Elkins Lavergne of Church Point and two brothers, Raymond Lavergne of Arnaudville, LA and Theobert Lavergne, Jr. of Port Barre.
She was a member of the Come Lord Jesus prayer group for 30 years and a member of rosary groups in her neighborhoods for over 60 years.
Visitation will take place at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point on Tuesday, July 25 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. There will be PRIVATE family viewing Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be prayed by her siblings at 3:30 pm Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home. Another rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm in the funeral home Tuesday evening. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday with burial in the OLSH Cemetery adjacent to church.
Special "Thank You's" are extended to Nursing Specialties, Inc. staff, especially Hospice Nurse Joy Shullaw, Dr. Salman Malad of Cancer Center of Acadiana, Dr. John Higginbotham of Kidney Consultants and Primary Care Dr. Fernando Alemany.
