Church Point, La. A Prayer Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, La. for Eraste Steve Viator, Jr., 65. Mr. Viator, a native and long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Church Point, died Tuesday morning at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, his current residence. Deacon Bryne Winn will conduct the service with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include a great-niece, Marie Boudreaux and husband Troy of Church Point and a sister, Gloria Ann Turner of Carencro, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eraste S. Viator, Sr. and Marie Lavergne Viator.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 1:45 p.m. Thursday by Deacon Winn.
Representative of a unique aspect of "Cajun" culture, Steve was a "Traiteur" among the people of the area for many years.
