Church Point, LA: Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Emeline Marie Burleigh, 92, who passed away at 6:10 PM on Sunday, January 13 at Senior Village Retirement Center in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Berl Adams will conduct the funeral services with burial following at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau, LA. Emeline, a resident of rural St. Landry Parish, was the daughter of the late Alexon Smith and the former Armena Brasseaux. Mrs. Burleigh was known at Senior Village Retirement as the 'Prayer Lady' as she had started a bible study group that has been in existence for the past six and a half years. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care given to her to the staff at Senior Village Retirement Center, especially Amanda Richard. She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Faul and husband Terry of Opelousas; one son, Ron Burleigh and wife Jo of Sunset, LA; three grandchildren, Ryan Faul of Opelousas, Eric Faul and wife Mallory of Lafayette, LA and Olivia Kler and husband Chris of Sunset; and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Jack, and Cohen Faul and Harrison and Annelise Kler of Sunset. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Burleigh; her parents; one son Daryl Burleigh; three sisters, Marie Castille, Mercedes 'NooNoo' Lantier and Avia Cormier and four brothers, Ernest, Charles, Marcena and John A.B. Smith. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Monday, January 14, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
