Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Mrs. Elzie J. (Ruth) Cormier, 88, the former Ruth Sattler. Mrs. Cormier, a native and long-time resident of rural Acadia parish near Pitreville, died at 5:30 P.M. Sunday, September 4 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Church Point.
Survivors include her sons: David Cormier and wife Kitty of Eunice, La., Howard Cormier and wife Sarah of Abbeville, La., and Sidney Cormier and Joe Cormier and wife Lana-all of Church Point; her daughter, Doris Moreau and husband Roger of Bunkie, La.; her brothers, Allen Jagneaux of Carlos, La. and Earl Jagneaux and wife Lou of Port Neches, Tex.; her sisters: Leola Benoit and Bertrella Latiolais of Church Point and Frances Young and husband Floyd of Eunice; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie J. "Slim" Cormier and her parents, Phillip and Amanda (Richard) Sattler.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 6 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
Deeply religious, Mrs. Cormier's most cherished activity was taking part in her rosary group with her granddaughter and friends.
