Lewisburg, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at St. John Catholic Chapel in Lewisburg, La. for Mrs. Elvin Cormier, 94, the former Rose Mae Fontenot. Mrs. Cormier, a native of Church Point and long-time resident of Lewisburg, died at 8:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 7 at her son's residence in Duson, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in St. John Cemetery in Lewisburg.
Mrs. Cormier is survived by her son, Kenneth A. Cormier of Duson; two grandsons, Brandon Cormier of Rayne, La. and Damon Cormier of Duson; a great-grandson, Kameron Cormier of Rayne and a sister, Beulah Cormier of Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Cormier; her parents Bennett and Mary Wordner (Higginbotham) Fontenot, Sr.; two brothers, Bennett, Jr. and Ray Fontenot and a sister, Ruth F. Richard.
Mrs. Rose Mae was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shuteston, La. Volunteer Fire Department and the Ladies Altar Society of St. John Chapel in Lewisburg.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 8 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday by Father Brad Guillory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John Catholic Chapel c/o Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 114 North Bienvenu Street, Church Point, La. 70525.
