Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La for Elton John "Peok" Hanks, 77. Mr. Hanks, a native of Bosco, LA and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died Saturday afternoon at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Eldine Jagneaux Hanks of Church Point; two sons, Joseph Meche of DeQuincy, LA and Warren Meche and wife Cam of Opelousas, LA; four daughters: Debbia Foreman and husband Clyde of Indian Bayou, LA, Dianna Goodwin of Duson, LA, Deanna Guidry of Opelousas and Judy Grizzle and husband Paul of Church Point; one sister, Rosa Belle Arceneaux of Rayne, LA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Deleno and Solenge Begneaux Hanks and a son, Donald Meche.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Monday, May 23 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Monday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Mr. Hanks was an usher at St. John Chapel in Lewisburg, LA for a number of years. As he was a U.S. Army veteran, he will be honored with a flag presentation ceremony at the time of services.
