Obituary

A resident of Church Point since 1980, Elsie JoAnn Bailey, age 77, departed life at 3 A.M. Sunday, September 30, after a brief battle with lung cancer. "JoAnn", formerly of Marrero, La.; was born July 7, 1930 at Wichta Falls, Tx. to parents James Frank and Elsie Lindsey Womack. At age 19, JoAnn met and married George Travis Bailey on April 13, 1949 at Odessa, Tx. This union successfully produced 5 children. JoAnn is a longtime member of Holly Springs Methodist Church of Fouke, Ark.; and will be remembered dearly by her family members and many friends and acquaintances throughout Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri.
Surviving JoAnn is her husband of 57 years, George Travis Bailey, Sr. of Church Point, three sons and daughters-in-law: George Travis, Jr. and Ada H. Bailey of Gretna, Drew Patrick and Jamie G Bailey of Orlando, Florida and James "Rodney" Robert and Irene F. Bailey of Marrero. Two daughters Brenda Lucille Bailey of Church Point an Karen Elizabeth Bailey and husband Eugene "Gene" D. Thibodeaux of Church Point. Also surviving JoAnn are eldest brother Jack F. Womack and wife Darleen of Odessa, Texas, youngest brother Jimmy Lee Womack of St. Louis, Missouri, sister-in-law Nelda Gay Womack of Pflugerville, Texas and two very dear friends Suzette Kinchen and Michelle Boe of Kenner, Louisiana. Mum JoAnn will be sadly missed by ten grandchildren, Ricky D. Bailey and wife Dayna of Marrero, Melissa A. Bailey and husband Otis d'Reyna of Gretna, Tammy C. Bailey and husband Virgel Breaux of Marrero, Rodney W. Bailey of Marrero, Shannon R. Bailey and husband Thor Kornbrek of Orlando, Florida, Megan N. Burke of Church Point, Lindsey A. Thibodeaux and husband Quinton Daigle of Branch, Eugene "Gene" D. Thibodeaux II, Lauren E. Thibodeaux and Amanda B. Thibodeaux of Church Point.
Ten Great-Grandchildren also survive JoAnn including Destin, Hannah and Selena Bailey of Marrero, Texas and Francesca Kornbrek of Orlando, Florida, Tayla Breaux of Marrero, Rodney and Abby Bailey of Seattle, Washington, Madison Klimonek of Church Point, and Wyatt Daigle of Branch.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents James Frank Womack and Elsie Lindsey, Father and Mother-in-law, Drew Steely Bailey, Jr. and Etha Viola Howell,one brother, Travis Orran Womack, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera "Jerry" Geraldine Boyles and husband Charles Lewis, and Corky Jean Womack and husband Johnny Miller and her friend and cousin-in-law Bertha Hensley.
Visitation was at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point on Wednesday, October 3, at 8 A.M. with services at 4 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will take place at 12 noon, with graveside services on Thursday, October 4 at Holly Springs Cemetery, in Fouke, Arkansas.
