Obituary

Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, June 3, 2024 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA for Ella Turner Lyons, 79, the former Ella Caroline Turner. Mrs. Lyons, a native of Bayshore, Long Island, NY, and resident of Church Point, died Saturday morning, June 1 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Fr. Mark LeDoux, Pastor of the Church, will conduct the Services with interment immediately following in the Cemetery adjacent to the Church.

She is survived by special companion Toby Olivier; siblings Tom Turner (Lucy) and Carol Venturella (Sam), her daughters Kimberley Kiesling, Karen Kiesling, Kelly Renee Cory (Jeff), Kasey Yarbrough, Kandice Broussard (Josh), Kristie Bourgeois (Luke), and Rachel Yarbrough; her grandchildren Kaynen Yarbrough (Danielle), Livi Broussard, Daniel Rainey, Danielle Brown, Christian Cory (Alicia), Dusty Cory, Kelcie Bourgeois Sumrall (Thomas), Kennedie Bourgeois LaCroix (Lex), Kassidie Bourgeois, Isaac Yarbrough, Ian Wyble, and Emily Castille; her great-grandchildren Kason, Knox, and Kohen Yarbrough, Charlie Sumrall, Mason and Mylee Cory, Franky and Harmony Hathaway and Dashaun, Jacoby and Dannick Rainey, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Pearl Kamarad Turner, brother Robert "Bobby" Turner and husband Joseph Floyd Lyons.

Ella Caroline Turner Lyons was a sister, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to so many. She loved her friends and family fully and wholeheartedly. Her siblings here and remembered were everything to her. She was unapologetically sassy, however always a lady. You could always find her sitting in her rocking chair with a glass of wine and her slippers on tight. She spent her time devoted to attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's events, finding significance in all of them. Her recipes will be recreated but never the same from her fried chicken to her deviled eggs (she refused to eat). She instilled her strength and independence in all of her daughters and defined the true meaning of family for everyone else. Her memory will be cherished by all those who loved her. She will be forever remembered in that bucket hat, fishing pole in hand.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Sunday June 2 and continue from 9:00 AM Monday until time of Services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Sunday by Deacon Byrne Winn. Pallbearers will be Luke Bourgeois, Josh Broussard, Jeff Cory, Kaynen and Issac Yarbrough, Ian Wyble, Dusty and Christian Cory and Lex LaCroix. Readers will be Kelcie Sumrall and Danielle Yarbrough; gift bearers will be Kennedie Bourgeois LaCroix, Kassidie Bourgeois and Livi Broussard. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N.
