Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Ella Mae Doiga, 82, who passed away on Wednesday morning, January 29 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Rev. Patrick Broussard, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and there will be a private family burial immediately following in Lejeune Family Cemetery in Ville Platte, LA.
Ella Mae, a resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late Lucius Lejeune and the former Emma Boone. A foster parent for many years, Ella Mae and her husband Ray owned Ray's Mobile, the last full-service gas station in Church Point. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved cooking, camping and traveling. She is survived by one daughter, Teena Lavergne Courville of Church Point; four sons, David Lavergne and wife Shirley of Colorado, Christopher Lavergne and wife Melissa of Youngsville, LA, Jake Lavergne, Jr. and wife Melanie of Church Point and Charles Ray Doiga and wife Alyce of Lafayette, LA; three step-daughters, Linda Boutin and husband Dale of Henderson, LA, Loraine Ellzey and husband David of New Iberia, LA and Christine Doiga of Opelousas and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rayford 'Ray' Doiga; her step-son, Kenny Doiga and her brothers and sisters.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Friday, January 31 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:00 PM. Personal condolences may be sent to the Doiga family at
