Church Point, LA: A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Edmund Catholic Chapel in Branch, LA for Eleanor T. Hopkins, 93, the former Eleanor Turpin. Mrs. Hopkins, a long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Branch, passed away Thursday, July 15 at her residence. Deacon David Menard will conduct the service and the interment in the St. Edmund Cemetery adjacent to the church.
She is survived by her sons, Harry Hopkins and wife Joy and Lon Hopkins and wife Brenda-all of Baton Rouge, LA; a daughter, Mary Hopkins Johnson and fiancé Mark Meadows of Baton Rouge; a daughter-in- law, Monastel Hopkins of Church Point; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hopkins; two sons, James Roy and Bill Kent Hopkins; her parents, Roy and Zelpha Carruthers Turpin; a brother, Roy Turpin; a sister, Doris May Turpin; a niece, Doris Faye Duhon and two great-great-grandchildren, Shelby Briggs and Rachel Lantz. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM Saturday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 12:00 Noon by Deacon Menard. Pallbearers will be: Lance Hopkins, Hoyt Johnson, Kaden Wright, Job Lantz, Nathan LeBlanc and Ross Turpin. Honorary pallbearers will be: Donnie Hopkins, David Briggs, Jon-Trey Quebodeaux, Arlen Abshire, Bradley Bergeron, Gavin LeBlanc and Carl Johnson. Special thanks are extended to Greg Troyer, Carol Winn, Jeanette Brown, Sheila Guidry, Mona Guidry and Hospice of Acadiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A store manager in Branch for a number of years, Mrs. Hopkins was devoted to her family. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
