Church Point, LA:   Eldine Guidry Colligan died peacefully on April 20, 2020 at the wonderful age of 102. As a resident of St. James Place Retirement Center in Baton Rouge, LA, she lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute that she was there. Eldine was born in Church Point, LA on October 25, 1917 to Eddie and Ethel LaFleur Guidry. She had five siblings; Burton (Jeanette), Sidney (Joyce), Jeanette Franchebois (J. Liter), Eloise Carte (Ed), and Valrie Borne/Cormier (Oscar/Albert). Eldine is survived by her daughter Linda Colligan Roy and son-in-law Dr. Aaron Roy; four grandchildren, Stephanie Roy, Bret Roy (Wendy), Allison Roy Sanchez (Blanchard Jr.), and Douglas Roy; six great-grandchildren, Kelsey Sanchez Gleaton (Sam), Blanchard III, and Steven Sanchez, Camille and Anna Roy, Jude Roy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Patrick "Pat" Colligan and two baby daughters, Sharon and Priscilla, her parents, her siblings and their spouses. When Pat retired from Freeport Sulphur Co. (Freeport McMoran), they moved from Port Sulphur to Belle Chase where he began a new career as a banker at Delta Bank (Regions) and on the Board of Directors. Eldine and Pat moved from Plaquemines Parish after 42 years to Baton Rouge in 1983 to be near their daughter and her family. They missed the many long-time friends, but made many wonderful friends here, especially their bridge friends. After Pat passed away in 1992, Eldine moved to St. James Place in 2002 and loved living there. She always said, "I wish that I had done it sooner". The family would like to thank the entire staff of St. James Place for the love and wonderful care given to her during her 18 years that she resided there and for Hospice of Baton Rouge who lovingly cared for her in her last days. Please know that you were loved by her in return. Due to the COVID 19 circumstances, a private visitation will be held at the Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point followed by a burial at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mausoleum conducted by Father Patrick Broussard, Pastor, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Place Foundation 333 Lee Dr., Baton Rouge, LA or charity of your choice.
