Church Point, LA:      Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2019 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Edna T. Smith, 93, the former Edna Thibodeaux. Ms. Smith, a long-time resident of Lawtell, LA, died Thursday morning, September 26 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA. Father Austin Leger will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Bellard and husband Virgil and Debra Thibodeaux and husband Wayne-all of Opelousas, Arleen Lavergne and husband Hilton of Eunice, LA and Connie Marks and husband Bruce of Grand Coteau, LA; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doremus and Meary Richard Thibodeaux; her brothers, Placide, Oscar, Pierre, John, Alcide, Alcee and Eby Thibodeaux and her sisters, Marie Joubert, Virginia Faul and Louisiana Fruge. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 P.M. Monday by Father Leger. Pallbearers will be Daniel and Todd Bellard, Bruce Marks, Austin Bordelon, Brandon Hargroder and Blake Thibodeaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kaleb, Jacob, Peyton and Noah Bellard; Jude Bordelon, Everett Reppond and Bryce Thibodeaux. Readers will be Angelle Bellard, Amy Nelson and Dana Hargroder with Hannah and Taylor Bellard as gift bearers. A cook and housekeeper at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell for many years, Ms. Smith spent her retirement sewing, praying, drawing, and visiting and spending time with family and friends.
