Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Dorothy R. Cormier, 73, a retired schoolteacher and a life-long resident of Lewisburg, La. Mrs. Cormier died May 4, 2009 at the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point after a short illness. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum; Highway 35, Church Point.
Survivors include her children, Gwen, Betty, Judy, Therese and Lee Cormier; a brother, Harold Richard; and three sisters: Clara Young, Madgeline Lyons, and Terradene Thibodeaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Joe" Cormier, Jr. and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Richard.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 6 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services.

A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

By Dorothy's request her sister Clara, her caretaker while in the nursing home, had helped her to enter the Acadia-St. Landry Nursing Home in August, 2006 where she had resided until her death.
