Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at St. John Berchman Catholic Church; Cankton, La. for Dewey Leger, 83. Mr. Leger, a native and resident of Branch, La. and a long-time resident of Sunset, La., died at 5:00 P.M.Sunday, May1 at his residence. Father Henry Broussard will conduct the services with entombment following in the St. John Berchman Mausoleum in Cankton.
Survivors include his wife Maudrie Courvelle Leger of Branch, La.; two sons, Karl Leger and wife Cherie of Tomball, Tex. and Brent Leger and wife Janie of Branch; a daughter, Yvette LeBlanc and husband Bryan of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Clyde Leger of Branch; a sister, Mrs. Verdia Venable of Higginbotham, La.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Evay (Thibodeaux) Leger.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday, May 2 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday by the Cankton Retreat Group.
Mr. Leger, an employee of Halliburton for some thirty-six years, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He will be honored with a Flag presentation Ceremony at the time of services.
