Obituary

Church Point, LA:     It is with a heavy heart that his family announces the passing of their beloved brother and uncle, Dennis Gaywood Billeaudeaux, 75. He died in San Francisco, CA, of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Dennis was born to L.B. and Rita Benoit Billeaudeaux in Church Point, Louisiana. Survivors include his partner, Brian Godchaux; sister Dianna Richard and her children, Lonnie (Susan) Richard, Christine (Kenneth) Olivier and Neal (Philip) Richard; sister Louander (Terry) LeBlanc and her children, Tiffani (Blaine) Barrilleaux, Dawn (Ronnie) Arceneaux and Stuart (Stephanie) LeBlanc; twelve great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.

Dennis was a 1967 graduate of Church Point High School, a 1969 graduate of LSUE inEunice, LA and a 1971 graduate of LSU-New Orleans (UNO) in New Orleans, with a degree in Theater Arts. At the age of 5, Dennis had polio and underwent twenty-one surgeries in New Orleans to overcome his ailments. Dennis was a positive individual who never let polio stop him from achieving a highly active life. He designed and marketed men's ties through his company, My Ties, on the West Coast and was a music critic and disc jockey in his later years. He traveled throughout the United States, even attending the famous Woodstock Festival in New York in 1969. Dennis loved California, but his heart was always in Louisiana, coming home often to visit family and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his partner, Stephan Guintard and his brother-in-law, Joseph Aaron Richard. The family was truly blessed to have Dennis in their lives, as he was an inspiration to all how he lived his life with polio and never gave up. He will be deeply missed.
