Obituary

Church Point, La. Delia Bonin Link died at 3:20 A.M. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at her residence in Richard, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 12 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, with interment following in the cemetery adjacent to the church. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 11and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday by Deacon Paul Matte.

Delia was born in Rayne, La. on May 3, 1919 to Octave Paul and Mayme Pucheu Bonin. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1935 and married Grant Link on May 10, 1941. Grant joined the Army in 1942 and after the War returned from Europe in 1946. The couple moved to the Richard area and Grant managed the Link and Merritt Farm. They lived in the home built in 1932 by Grant's family, Newton and Lucille Mouton Link.
Delia loved her home, the fields and country life and was never happier than having relatives and friends come to the country for dinner parties and get-togethers. She was a member of St. Edward Church and was involved in Church activities. She taught CCD, was a Lector and Communion Minister, was a member of the first Pastoral Council in the Diocese of Lafayette, an officer of the West Deanery in Crowley and a member of the Lay Honorees Society, having won the Bishops Service Medal in 1983. She and Grant were also active in civic affairs.
She is survived by a daughter, Lucille L. Chocallo and husband Bill of Sarasota, Fla.; a son, Mark and wife Claire Moody Link of Richard; five grandchildren: Dr. Catherine L. McGee and Husband Jack, Matthew and wife Shauna Keesler Link, Kevin Link (and Hannah Guidry), Eric Link and Charles Chocallo; a great-grandchild, Grant Michael Link; a sister, Mabel Bonin of Rayne; her nieces and nephews: John and Peggy Fleming, Stephen and Susan Fleming, Jack and Margie Bonin, Mayne B. and Bill Wynn, Mary B. Carriere, Robert Bonin, Dr. Lee Lambert and Karen Lambert, Link Lambert and a special grand-nephew, Brian Fleming and wife Amy.
"Dee" was preceded in death by her husband Grant; her parents; two sisters, Cecile Bonin and Estelle B. Fleming; a brother, Jack Bonin; a nephew, Harold Bonin and two infant children.
The family wishes to give special thanks to her caregivers, Dolores and Sandra LeJeune and Sue Lopez and the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice.
