Church Point, LA:    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 4, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Debra Lee Brinkman, 58, who passed away at 1:00 AM Thursday, November 30 at the Acadia-St. Landry Nursing and Rehab Center in Church Point. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Burial Rite at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35.

Debra, a resident of Church Point, was the daughter of Joseph Meche and the former Velta Landry. A sportswoman who loved to hunt and fish; she enjoyed going on cruises, collecting antiques and she loved diamonds.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Donald P. Brinkman of Church Point; two sons, Byron James Istre and wife Elizabeth of Duson, LA and Joshua Istre of Mire, LA; four stepchildren: Kiley Brinkman, Ahlea Richard, Donielle Broussard and Tyler Brinkman; nine grandchildren: Marcus Hynes and Tori, Tanya, Bryson, Makaila, Ethan, Nathan, Johnny, and Adrien Istre; two sisters, Yvonne Breaux and Nancy Garcia and four brothers: Archie, Sammy, Jessie and Brian Meche. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Liam Istre.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Sunday, December 3, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of the funeral mass. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home Sunday evening at 6:00 PM
