Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. John Catholic Chapel in Lewisburg, La. for Daniel Wilfred "Dan" Guidry, 74. Mr. Guidry, a native and long-time resident of Lewisburg, died at 6:15 A.M. Wednesday, December 28 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the St. John Cemetery adjacent to the Church.
Survivors include his loving companion, Norma Olivier of Lewisburg; a son, Roy Kolder and wife Beverly of Plaquemine, La.; four daughters: Debra Kolder Boudreaux and husband Roger, Kay Guidry and Kathy Liz Guidry Leger and husband Bryan-all of Church Point and Connie Guidry Hollier and husband Keith of Lewisburg; a sister, Clorita Barousse of Lafayette, La.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Albertine (David) Guidry; his wife, Lee Ella (Carrier) Guidry; a grandson, Dustin Keith Hollier; four brothers and three sisters.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 29 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Kevin and Keith Kolder, Casey and Blake Boudreaux, B.J. Leger and Derek Guilbeau. Honorary pallbearers will be Drake Boudreaux, Nick Herring, Kase and Chet Kolder. Readers will be Anne Marie Herring and Londyn Kolder. Offertory gift bearers will be Charlotte Herring, Brittany Leger, Gabby Boudreaux, Camille Lanclos and Rae Leigh Olivier.
Mr. Guidry was a retired employee of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and a board member of the Lewisburg-Bellevue Water District. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2504 and an usher at St. John Chapel for many years.
