Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday July 22, 2020 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Cynthia Leger, 68. Mrs. Leger, affectionately known as "MeMaw" to her grandkids, co-workers and her amazing little "clients" at LARC was a genuine nurturer and caregiver. Mrs. Leger, a native of Church Point and resident of Scott, LA, passed away on July 19 at her residence after a brief illness. Reverend Patrick Broussard, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the committal services in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. She is survived by two sons, Shawn Burleigh and wife Sharon of Houston, TX and Gannon Burleigh of Carencro, LA; a daughter, Tammy Lacombe and husband Tim of Lake Arthur, LA; a brother, Donald Wills of Cankton, LA; a sister, Rosalyn Noel and husband Daniel of Lafayette, LA; her grandchildren: Slade Johnson, Paige Burleigh Ramos, Mia Burleigh, Stephanie Tate, Shane Fuller, Kyle Lacombe, Dustin Lacombe, Lainey Lacombe Atkins, Brandon "Buddy" Burleigh, Jr., Kassidy Burleigh-Noel, and Brandi Burleigh; her great-grandchildren: Abel, Addison, Peyton, Olivia, Gunner, Lexi, Jameson, Eli, Jack and Corey and two "special" nieces, Lauren Noel Maurer and Chelsea Noel Torrence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elgie and Gurnice Lejeune; her husband, James K. Leger and a son, Brandon Burleigh, Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services with a rosary recited at 2:15 P.M. by Father Broussard. Pallbearers will be Slade Johnson, Kyle Lacombe, Dustin Lacombe, Brandon "Buddy" Burleigh, Jr, Lee Torrence and Evan Maurer. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Readers will be Lauren Maurer, Daniel Noel and Sharon Burleigh with eulogies by Mia Burleigh and Chelsea Torrence. The family extends a "special thank you" to her granddaughter and roommate, "Kassie" and her personal nurse, "Chels" for taking such good care of her. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
