Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Mrs. Culand Richard, 70, the former Agnes Brown. Mrs. Richard, a native of Plaisance, La. and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 10 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include her husband, Culand Richard of Church Point; two daughters, Yvonne Cormier and husband Barry of Church Point and Deidra Buller and husband Randy of Iowa, La.; three sisters: Mary Aucoin, Helen Fontenot and Marie Chapman-all of Ville Platte, La.; her grandchildren, Stephanie Cormier Spaetgens and husband James of Roberts Cove, La. and Tanner and Paige Buller of Iowa and her great-grandchildren, Lane-Matthew Sarver and Ian Spaetgens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Telmas and Willie Mae (Dupre) Brown; a grandson, Matt Cormier and a sister, Anna Lou Deville.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 12 and continue from 9:00 A.M Friday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
A homemaker, Mrs. Richard was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart for many years.
