Charmaine Olivier
Guidry
November 5, 1960 – June 16, 2017
Church Point, LA Charmaine Olivier Guidry, 56, a loving wife, mother, & grandmother, passed from faith to sight, Friday evening, June 16, 2017, in Dearborn, Michigan after a battle with cancer. Born November 5, 1960 in Church Point, LA to Eurdley and Shirley Olivier, graduated from Church Point High School May 1978, and then married Thomas Lane Guidry November 17, 1978, who she loved for the remainder of her life.
After a twenty-year residency in Katy, TX and the death of her husband, Charmaine relocated to Dearborn, MI to be near her children and granddaughters. To know her was to know of her dedicated and unconditional love for family, her delicious creative cakes, an eye for design and traditional Cajun cooking. As with most of her life's challenges, she was strong and un-nerved by her diagnosis. Her acceptance to this challenge was amazingly calm and her repeated response to results was always, "Okay. It is what it is." With a positive attitude and unwavering faith in God, she was confident that she would reunite with her husband for an everlasting life together. She is survived by her two children, Mitzi Alyce Guidry and Thomas Cole Guidry (Julie), granddaughters Lainey, Zoey, Maddy, and her beloved cat, Sadie. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Olivier, of Church Point, her brother, Kurt Olivier (Patrick Balzer) of Columbia, SC, and sister Wanda Kay (Dieter) Schmitz of Church Point, Godchildren Chad Briscoe, Alex and Claudia Schmitz and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband Tommy, her father Eurdley Olivier, and grandparents John and Alice Olivier, and Choke and Mabel Miller, all of Church Point. Visitation will be held Friday, June 23, 2017 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7pm followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am Saturday, June 24 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Charmaine's final wishes were to be cremated and interred with her husband in Church Point. The family will handle this privately at a later date. The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society . Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, LA (337) 684-5488.
