Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, August 13, 2012 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point for Celina Williams, 93, the former Celina Huckaby. Mrs. Williams, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 9:45 A.M. Saturday, August 11 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include a daughter, Sedalia W. Olivier of Church Point; her grandchildren, Samuel Olivier and Stacey Carriere of Lafayette, La., Mason Olivier and Jael Lynn Thibodeaux of Church Point and Karmon Moosa of St. Francisville, La. and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Williams; her parents; a daughter, Veronica W. Carriere and three brothers, Alphan, Ned and Jay Huckaby.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 12 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams were foster parents for the better part of their lives, fostering more than fifty children over forty years.
