Obituary

Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for William “Brett” Bellard, 24. Mr. Bellard, a native and resident of Church Point, died Saturday night, August 22 at his residence. Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday August 25 and continue from 8:00 AM until the time of Services on Wednesday. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Tuesday by Deacon Byrne Winn. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will conduct the Services with Interment at a later date. Pallbearers will be Blake, Brody, Beau, Brandon and Brock Bellard; Jace Benoit and Will Fontenot.

Survivors include his mother, Polly D. Bellard of Church Point; his paternal grandmother, Margaret D. Bellard of Church Point; his brothers, Blake, Brody and Beau Bellard-all of Church Point and his extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Scotty Bellard; his maternal grandparents, Wade and Heather Delahoussaye and Betty Delahoussaye and his paternal grandfather, Archie Bellard.

William “Brett” Bellard, known to many as “Pistol,” earned his nickname as a child for always being in his daddy’s holster. He was a jokester with a tough exterior and a tender heart, fiercely protective of those he loved, and always ready to lend a helping hand. A true outdoorsman, Brett found joy in hunting, skeet shooting, working cattle, and spending time with his dog, Blu. Above all, he loved his family deeply. Brett will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, generous spirit, and the way he could light up a room and bring laughter wherever he went. He left behind more than memories; he left lessons in how to live—to love fiercely, help those in need, and bring joy to those around you.

Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, LA (337) 684-5488.
