Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Beulah LeJeune Matte, 83, the former Beulah Marie Lejeune. Mrs. Matte, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 11:59 A.M. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital, Church Point. Father Gregory Chauvin will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Matte; daughter Marilyn Matte Simon; daughter Evelyn Matte Bourgeois and husband Carl; son Peter V. Matte and wife Rita; daughter Bonnie Matte Lambert and husband Samuel; son Patrick Matte and wife Pamela; daughter Candy Matte Leger and husband Toby; daughter Sharron Matte LeDoux and husband Mark and daughter Karron Matte Schexnider and husband Donal. Pallbearers are James Wayne Matte II, Robert Lee Simon, Jr., Tony Bourgeois, Victor Matte, Zeke Schexnider and Joshua Matte. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Bourgeois, Caleb Lambert, D.J. Schexnider, Jonathon Simon and Ty Leger.
Readers are Lena Guidry Ready, Jazlyn Leger and Jayni Schexnider. Gift bearer are Misty and Zoe Gauthier and Lucas LeDoux.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Mike Williams and the staff of Acadia-St. Landry Hospital, Melinda Johnson and Belita Citizen and her sitter and friend, Kathy Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vorace Matte; son James Wayne Matte; son-in-law Robert Lee Simon, Sr.; granddaughter Amanda Elizabeth Matte; parents Joseph and Bertha Higginbotham LeJeune and a sister, Viola Lejeune Higginbotham.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed beginning 9:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 and continuing uninterrupted until the time of the services on Wednesday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 on Tuesday by Deacon Jared Suire.
Beulah Lejeune Matte was born on September 30, 1925 in "Pointe Noir"; the eldest daughter of Joseph Dupre and Bertha Higginbotham Lejeune. Beulah married Vorace Joseph Matte on May 27, 1943. Together they raised nine children until Vorace's untimely death in 1969. Beulah's pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
