Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Anthony Raoul Savoie, 70. Mr. Savoie, a native of rural St. Landry Parish near Bristol, La. and currently a resident of Church Point, died at 9:10 P.M. Thursday, September 15 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his companion, Bernadine LeJeune of Church Point; a stepdaughter, Melissa Labbie of Church Point; his brothers: J.B. Savoie of Atlanta, Ga., Whitney Savoie of Houston, Tex, Jesse Savoie of Church Point, Levie Savoie of Eunice, La., John Preston Savoie of Pensacola, Fla. and Francis Savoie of Lafayette, La.; his sisters, Georgie Doucet of Houston, Tex. and Genevieve Richard of Church Point and two step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul and Justine (Leger) Savoie and his brothers, Rodney, Louis and Percy Savoie.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, September 16 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 5:30 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, Mr. Savoie was a proud member of both VFW Post 9903 and American Legion Post 225 where he was a past Commander and served on the Post Honor Guard. He will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony by the Honor Guard at the time of services.
