Anthony
Bourgeois
February 4, 1938 – January 20, 2026
Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 23, 2026, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Mr. Anthony Bourgeois, 87, who passed away at 1:19 PM January 20 at his residence in Church Point surrounded by his loving family.
Fr. Michael Vidrine, Parochial Vicar of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Anthony, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Gabriel Bourgeois and the former Drusella LeBleu. Mr. Bourgeois served faithfully as an altar boy throughout his youth, assisting at Mass, funerals, weddings, and other church services. Upon entering high school, he became active in sports, playing football and earning the only award given by the football program at the time—the Albert Roy Horecky Memorial Award. During those years, he also developed a love for horses, both riding wild horses and competing in rodeos. It was in high school that he met the love of his life, Connie Wimberley.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1956, completing boot camp at Fort Bliss, Texas, and AIT training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, before being stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He was later sent to Oberammergau, Bavaria, where he attended Special Forces School and received Military Police training. During his military service, he earned numerous awards and commendations before returning home and receiving an honorable discharge.
Anthony began working at Church Point Wholesale, and on April 11, 1959, he married the woman he dearly loved. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with eight children (one deceased at birth), 28 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
After many years at Church Point Wholesale, he opened his own business in 1972, Anthony's Feed and Farm Supply. Throughout his lifetime, he belonged to many organizations and received numerous awards in recognition of his service, including: The American Legion, The Knights of Columbus (Grand Knight), the Louisiana State Horse Racing Commission and the National High School Rodeo Association (National Director).
The two things in his life that he enjoyed the most were watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports and rodeos and attending the horse races to watch his horses run.
He was a lifelong, faithful, and devoted Catholic who dedicated his life to our Blessed Lord.
"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him."
"May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace." Amen.
His survivors include, his loving wife, Connie W. Bourgeois of Church Point, LA; his daughter, Amy Kitaif and husband J.C. of Tylertown, MS; his sons, Todd Bourgeois and wife Chris of Scott, Keith Bourgeois and wife Katie of Lafayette, Jeff Bourgeois and wife Eloise, Scotty Bourgeois and wife Mary Lou and Marty Bourgeois and wife Nancy-all of Church Point; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; five sisters, Gabriella Miller and husband Ronald, Geraldine Daigle, Judy Thibodeaux and husband Gregg, Gwendolyn Leger and Estelle Wimberley and husband Bill and two brothers, Walter Bourgeois and wife Joy and Michael Bourgeois and wife Gena.
