Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Albert Cormier, 89. Mr. Cormier, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Monday afternoon, September 12 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Father Mark Thibodeaux will conduct the services with interment following in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery-Hwy182 south of Opelousas, LA.
Survivors include a son, Craig Cormier and wife Cindy of Breaux Bridge, LA; a daughter, Lisa Holloway and husband Skip of Pleasant Ridge, MI; a brother, Herbert Cormier and wife Imogene of Lake Charles, LA; four grandchildren: Jeremy Cormier and wife Melissa, Remie Cormier Blanchard and husband Dannah, Ashley Distefano and husband Tony and Johnathon Fisher and wife Kait and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amente Smith Cormier.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 14 and continue from 8:00 AM Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 PM Wednesday by Deacon Bryne Winn.
A former member of the Merchant Marine and Salesman for the Canal Refinery, Mr. Cormier was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2504.
